What does it take to turn a flat into a living archive?
Over the past year, we’ve been working with students, graduates, artists and designers from across UAL to turn a former guest flat at Chelsea College of Arts into a living, live-in archive.
This blog is a place for us to share bits of the process as we go, things we’re working on, people we meet, decisions we make (and sometimes change) and little stories from the flat.
Follow along as we bring the Atterbury flat to life!

Come on in!
With London Design Festival just around the corner, the Atterbury flat is nearly ready to open its door.
The flat now brings together over 100 works and objects, bringing furniture, lighting, textiles, ceramics, books, illustrations and artworks together under one roof.
Have a look around and spend some time with the things (and people) that have made the flat what it is. We’ll be adding works, stories and glimpses from each space in the lead-up to London Design Festival, throughout the week and beyond.

Faces of the flat
The flat has taken a lot of people to make. Illustrated by Lily Kong, Here we introduce some of the artists, designers and collaborators who have helped bring it together.

A little about us
We’re Abi, Bhairavi and Zoë, the team behind the Atterbury Flat. Between studio visits, commissioning work, moving furniture and planning for launch, we’ve somehow also found time to start a blog! We’ve each taken a different path to the Atterbury Flat, bringing our own interests, experiences and creative practices along the way.
